Welcome to South Darenth and Horton Kirby, two different villages, but one community nestling in the Darent Valley in North West Kent. Two commuter villages just out of ear shot of the M25. Horton Kirby which has developed from hop farming and South Darenth which sprung up around the Paper Mill. This website is under the management of the Parish Council who will be happy to receive contributions from local organisations. This website is updated weekly.

DID YOU KNOW?
In 2010 your local Citizens Advice Bureau helped 4,700 local people deal with over 17,000 concerns. Although we receive invaluable support from Sevenoaks District Council, we have lost significant public funding in the past two years.
We need to find new sources of funding to maintain our services. This will come mainly from charitable donations and community support.
We need your support. If you can help us, please contact Colin Logier at funding@sevenoaksdistrictcab.org.uk

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE

The hall committee meets bi-monthly to discuss all aspects of running our village hall and currently consists of parish councillors (since the Parish Council owns and runs the
village hall) and user group representatives. At its last meeting the committee considered that one or two non users might have a different perspective to bring to the committee. These would be voluntary and non-voting positions. If you would like to be considered for either of these places and have something to offer, please contact the parish clerk in writing giving brief details about yourself. The meetings are held in the hall at 7.30 pm and are on Thursdays following the first Monday in Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sept and Nov. Parish Clerk, Village Hall, Horton Road, South Darenth, DA4 9DP

The Parish Council gets many requests from those researching their family history. Unfortunately the Council cannot help as it does not hold any records that can be of any use.
