Darent Valley Lion Club
We
are your local Lions Club, covering the villages of Culverstone, Fawkham,
Hartley, Horton Kirby, Longfield, New Ash Green, South Darenth and Vigo.
Our principal aim is to provide service and support for the community in our area. Some of the things we do include:
Support for the Lions Hospice at Northfleet. Assistance for families in distress. Programmes for young people involved in community service, and to assist them to develop life skills. Providing outings and other social activities for the elderly, the underprivileged, the housebound and the handicapped.
Lions Clubs are an international organisation, and there are approximately 43,000 clubs world-wide, with over 1.4million members.
It is not all work and no play! We make the fundraising as much fun as we can, and there is a thriving social side to the club, including:
Ö Theatre Trips
Ö Concerts Ö Dinner trips
Ö Summer Barbecues
Ö Speakers
Ö Outings such as river trips
Ö Quiz evenings, pub walks etc.
The club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month in Horton Kirby Village Hall.

IT IS A PRIVILEGE AND PLEASURE TO BE ABLE TO HELP SO MANY PEOPLE FINANCIALLY
WE PURCHASES TWO SYRINGE DRIVERS COSTING £1600, FOR THE LIONS HOSPICE AT NORTHFLEET
WE HAVE ALSO SUPPORTED MENCAP IN DARTFORD, SWANLEY AND GRAVESHAM BY SENDING A DONATION OF £200 AND ASSISTED NEW ASH GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL BY DONATING £250 FOR PLAY EQUIPMENT FOR THEIR NEW BREAKFAST CLUB
WE HAVE SUPPORTED UNICEF BY BUYING 2 EDUKITS (MOBILE CLASSROOMS) COSTING £250 AND LASTLY SUPPORTED HORTON KIRBY & SOUTH DARENTH BRITISH LEGION
We SPONSORED THE CORINTHIANS U15 FOOTBALL CLUB LAST YEAR IN THE LIONS FOOTBALL COMPETITION AND THEY BECAME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. WE ARE PLEASED TO SPONSOR THIS YEAR'S U15 TEAM, AGAIN FROM CORINTHIANS, AND WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS AS THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION STARTS IN A FEW WEEKS TIME.
OUR SLEIGH RUNS WITH FATHER CHRISTMAS AROUND HORTON KIRBY, SOUTH DARENTH, SUTTON AT HONE, HARTLEY AND NEW ASH GREEN WILL TAKE PLACE FROM MONDAY 11TH DECEMBER THROUGH TO SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER
WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE YOUTH BEFRIENDING SCHEME BY HELPING WITH TRANSPORT FOR 4 YOUNG PEOPLE TO A BEFRIENDING YOUTH CLUB FOR YOUNG CARERS.
WE ARE ACHIEVING ALL THIS WORK WITH A HANDFUL OF MEMBERS AND WE ARE DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR FURTHER MEN AND WOMEN TO JOIN US. WE MEET THE 1ST TUESDAY IN EACH MONTH AT THE HORTON KIRBY & SOUTH DARENTH VILLAGE HALL AT 8PM.
