The Chairman’s
report for the year, as attached, was given.
POLICE
MATTERS
Ch Insp Gill Ellis spoke to
the meeting on local policing and she answered questions from those present.
She gave the good news that
a second PCSO will be deployed to work in South
Darenth and Horton Kirby at no cost to the Parish Council in the near future
but by the end of March 2008 at the latest.
She also reported that unfortunately the beat officer post for the two
villages was still vacant. She gave
details of the progress being made on the use of Swanley Police Station and
gave the opening hours to the public:
Mondays – Saturdays 9.30am
to 5.30pm
Sundays 10am to
6pm.
At all other times there was
a phone outside the building which linked to the call centre at
PCSO Peter Hylands also
addressed the meeting and referred to 2 arrests which had been made for
graffiti that unfortunately did not get the support of the Crown Prosecution
Service. He also referred to a change in
his shift patterns which would mean he would work on Sundays and until 10pm at
times.
Alan Burchmore asked if he
could continue to be the Parish Council’s Police Liaison representative. This would be decided at the next Parish
Council meeting.
VILLAGE
HALL EXTENSION
The Chairman reported
briefly on initial ideas and basic plans that are being drawn up as part of the
feasibility study for the proposed village hall extension.
PUBLIC TOILETS WESTMINSTER FIELD – PETITION AGAINST
WINTER CLOSURE
Barbara Bradley
presented a petition signed by 42 members of the WI against the closure of the
toilets which should be kept open all year.
She urged the Parish Council to consider the people who visited the
field. She also mentioned that she had
spoken to someone who was prepared to clean the toilets everyday if the costs
charged by Sevenoaks District Council were an issue.
The meeting ended
at 8.45 pm
