HORTON KIRBY BURIAL GROUND

Permission must be obtained before any structure is put on to a grave

 

 

Kerbs

Standard kerbs (3” x 3”) only are allowed.  These can be of stone or wood.  The size allowed is a maximum of 6 feet 6 inches long by 2 feet 6 inches wide.

 

Permission must be sought and would be granted for  25 years (stone kerbs) or 10 years (wooden kerbs) after which time, if it was not kept up, it would be removed.   Whether or not kerbs are used the maximum size of the plot that can be tended is 6 feet 6 inches by 2 feet 6 inches in order to allow the grass between the graves to be cut.

 

Chippings

 

Chippings are only allowed within authorised kerbs. 

 

Trees and Shrubs

 

Trees and shrubs (including rose bushes) are not allowed to be planted on any plot.  All existing trees and shrubs will be removed after consultation with owners where known.  The Parish council is currently looking into the possibility to provide a special area for planting trees and shrubs.

 

Plastic / Fabric Flowers and other Items

 

Artificial flowers are allowed but that old and faded ones will be removed as will broken vases.

 

 

 

 

The above rules and regulations have been agreed not only to improve the appearance of the burial ground but also to ensure the safe use of the ground for all visitors including grounds maintenance contractors
