The District Council has been trialing a doorstep recycling scheme since September in the Sevenoaks town area.  Householders have the normal black sack for unrecyclable rubbish and a clear sack for paper, plastic bottles and tins (glass must still be taken to the bottles banks and green waste is still separated for doorstep collection in green sacks).  The scheme is going to be extended District wide during 2003 and we shall be part of the September 2003 implementation.
Look out for full details from SDC nearer the time.  One thing they have found with the trial is that people have joined in enthusiastically but Sevenoaks wants to persuade everyone to crush the cans, cardboard boxes, etc so that they don't have to use more than one clear sack a week.  It would be worth getting in to the habit of crushing now so that when we do start the scheme you won't have to buy additional clear sacks (50p a roll of 13 sacks).
