HORTON KIRBY VILLAGE SOCIETY     Anita Cockrill 865021

The Society has had lots of successful events in recent months. Sounds Augmented, the brass band that plays for the Summer Fair and the Christmas Carols, would like to thank everyone at the Fighting Cocks on 22 December who gave so generously to the collection for them.  £106 was given which is very much appreciated by the band members who will use the cash to buy sheet music.

Don't miss a musical evening on Fri 19 March with Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies a well-known group in folk circles comprising fiddle, bass and keyboards.  Described as "a lively and humorous night of celtic, folk and roots style music", there should be plenty of opportunity to sing along, tap feet and even dance in the aisles.  They have appeared at some of the world's largest festivals and are now coming to our village hall after their US tour!  Tickets, £6 from Carol Allart (865193).

AGM Friday 26 March.  Come along to the village hall at 7.30 pm.  After the business meeting, take the opportunity to chat with fellow villagers and have some cheese and wine.  Advance notice:VILLAGE FAYRE 12 JUNE

MURDER MYSTERY EVENT

Those of you who have been to a Moneypenny Murder Mystery evening before will be rushing to book your tickets for this joint event organised by South Darenth and Horton Kirby Village Societies.  Back by popular demand on Saturday 24 April in the village hall, we have to restrict this to 12 tables so don't delay in booking your seats.  There won't be any available on the night.  Tickets are £7 each.  The best number in a team is 10 but full tables of 10, 11 or even 12 can be booked.  Individual tickets can be bought but any groups under 10 in number will be put with others to make up a team.  Contact  Nikki (863549) or David (863205) as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

100 YEAR WOOD

Trees can still be purchased to commemorate or celebrate.  £25 will buy an entry in the very special 100 Year Wood Book which gives 35 words plus the names of the purchaser and the person commemorated.   One of the 8 types of indigenous trees already planted in the Wood can also be chosen.
