ST MARY'S CHURCH     Nancy White 865298

We are pleased to announce that all legal processes for the appointment of a new vicar for St Mary's, Horton Kirby and St John's at Sutton-at-Hone have now been completed.  The selection and interview process by the Diocesan Authorities has now begun.
A continued thank you for all the support, especially for the service of Remembrance and the Christingle Service which raised £150 for the Demelza Children's Hospice.
The Bazaar was an outstanding success.  A special thank you must go to Mrs Reynolds and her helpers and of course the children who are now such an integral part of the event.
The Quinquennial Inspection of the Church building has been carried out and one comment was the high standard of the churchyard maintenance.  Thanks to all involved.
Many will agree how the new positioning of the floodlighting enhanced the view of the church over Christmas.  Thanks once again to those involved.

DOORSTEP SELLING

Kent Trading Standards want to raise awareness particularly amongst the elderly of rogue doorstep traders.  Often they say that they've noticed roof tile problems which need urgent attention and then, with or without permission, start work and demand payment..  Officers have been able to give support to consumers before any money has been paid and have been successful in saving 13 Kent people over £91,000 during Apr - Oct last year.

So, if you are approached, turn them away and call Trading Standards on 0845 3450210 immediately

From time to time we also get leaflets through the door asking for
donations of unwanted clothing that would go to the third world.  Nowhere on the leaflet does it say that this is from a charity and it isn't! Trading Standards all over the country are trying to get the message across to people that the clothes and other items given to these companies are being sold at boot sales for private profit.   Don't be taken in  - if you have any clothes, linen, shoes, bags, etc bring them
in bags to the module at the village hall.
