Enquiries are still on-going concerning the comparative merits of wood and carbon fibre for the new flagpole that is needed to replace the old one which is beyond repair. To have a similar one made will cost approx £1300. Thanks to all who have made a contribution towards a new one, which must be capable of taking a weather vane.
The Remembrance Day service was very well attended, the collection going to the Poppy Appeal which has as much relevance today as when it was instituted. The Christmas bazaar broke the £1000 barrier. Continued thanks to the children and helpers of Riverside Kindergarten. Christmas services were also well attended and the collection from the Christingle service went to the Children’s Society. The gifts donated by the parish went to the Women’s Refuge, bringing a little joy into their lives at Christmas. Thanks to Jon Pettyfer for maintaining the floodlights once again.
Before Easter I shall be asking for donations towards the Easter Lilies which can be made in memory of a loved one.
