Text Box: WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Pam Stevenson 864431

We start 2008 with fond memories of our Christmas Party, a festival of good food, wine, a beautiful cake crafted, as usual, by Nancy White, a bran tub of presents to swap, and a strange and wonderful combination of gentlemen entertainers. Eyebrow-raising stuff.
By the time this reaches you, we will have heard at our January meeting the saga of the life of Dorothea (Dora) Jordan, a comic actress who became the mistress of the Duke of Clarence, afterwards William IV, a relationship which produced ten children. Wonder how they filled the long dark nights?
In February we look forward to welcoming Don Dray giving an audio visual talk on the story of Dance Band Days.
At our March meeting, Genevieve from Gorse Hill Nursery will be running a workshop on making Easter cards.
Looking further ahead, April brings “Statues in London”, a talk by Susan Jenkinson, and May will be our Resolutions meeting.
We meet on the third Thursday of each month, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. Look out for details on the distinctive W.I. posters which appear on the Village Notice Boards. Please feel free to come along and join us one evening. Indeed, you are welcome to attend for two free “Taster” sessions before you decide whether or not you would like to become a member. Annual membership is £27.00, which becomes payable on your third visit.
