PARISH COUNCIL ALL SET TO BUY 'HEATHSIDE'

Before his death last year, the owner of Heathside, Brian Smith made it clear that he wanted the former football field behind the village hall to be bought by the Parish Council for the community.  The Parish Council is delighted to be able to acquire this large area of land for local residents to enjoy and Members are just starting to think about how it can be used by the public.  Initially it will be used for informal recreation and is a lovely setting for family picnics or kicking a ball around.  Dog walkers who have been using the land in recent years will of course be able to continue but they are now expected to clear up after their pets even in advance of specific poop scoop byelaws. 

The land is not yet in the Council's ownership but full publicity will be given when it is.  Please note that there will only be pedestrian access to the field and that the car park to the right of the entrance is private and for the bowling club's use only.  Do not drive in.

SHRUBBERY ROAD - New Housing Development

West Kent Housing Association is proposing to build 9 houses on the land adjacent to number 55 Shrubbery Road.

These houses will be for affordable shared ownership accommodation, comprising 3 Three Bed & 6 Two Bed Units.

An outline site plan is available for viewing at the Parish Office and more detailed drawings will be on show at the Village Hall, Horton Road, on
Saturday 23^rd July between 10.00 am & 12.00 noon.

A representative of West Kent Housing will be available between these times to answer any questions and to receive residents' views as part of its consultation process.  Comments can also be put in writing to:

Following a close vote, the Parish Council has given support to this application, provided the houses are for local people.  It is understood that they will be offered to people living in or having connections with the parish in the first instance.
