The football teams playing on the pitches have complained about various matters, but it is felt that the Parish Council provides reasonable facilities.
New upholstered chairs
were purchased for the village hall and have met with a favourable response. The chair trolleys were adapted to prevent breakage to the backs of the chairs. Ninety-five of the old chairs were sold and the remainder are still with us.  The previously approved dividing wall in the foyer was reconsidered and not proceeded with at the present time.

Repairs to the Hall are costly. The Flat roof has been repaired and this year the drains are to be repaired . A framed map of the parish in the 1860s has been purchased and hangs in the Parish Room

Permission to allow a 'Burger Bar' in the parking area was turned down.

In the past year your Parish Council has continued to object to
developments in the 'Green Belt' and has objected to proposed developments at Southdowns, Franks Lane, Close Board Fencing around local fields, Machinery Hire facilities in Stack Lane and many other sites.

The Parish Council has given permission for a permissive footpath from the A225 through the Hundred-Year Wood to Westminster field.
The Parish Council welcomed the changes to the footpath SD164 at Speedgate and notes the diversion of DR/SD160 at Pinden.

Traffic in the villages is still a problem. SID, Speed Indicator Display, is still missing despite our offers to man him. Coaches parking in Franks Lane and The Street were a problem early in the year, but, at the moment are not causing a problem.

The Parish Council's decision to erect bollards along the grass verge of The Street has caused some local residents to question the decision. The matter will be resolved at the next Parish Council meeting.

The two village signs to celebrate the millennium have now been erected and have received very favourable comments.

The Parish Council was pleased to support the Church flower festival. Eight applications for grants were received this year and the Parish Council made grants to all applicants totalling £1050. The Jubilee celebrations in both villages were supported financially by the Parish Council
