concern and your Parish Council firmly supports the view that the chimney must be kept. We have, together with the South Darenth Village Society, written to the local authority stating our views.

Representatives of the Parish Council continue to meet with other local
parishes to discuss matters of mutual concern. At the coming June meeting we have tabled an item on the dumping of rubbish in our area.

The Parish Council is jointly funding the cost of the 'Villages Design Statement'. This is now with Sevenoaks District Council for final approval.

An Independent Internal Auditor reviewed the administration of the Parish Council and the reported weaknesses were addressed. A part-time Bookkeeper has been appointed and the Title Deeds to our assets located.

The precept for the current year was set at £59800. The Village Hall Drains £13,000 * and the Public Toilets £5700 were two items not previously in our costs. The interest on our reserves has been used to keep the precept at the current figure.[* Ed: lower estimate received since]

I take this opportunity to inform those parishioners who have voiced their views on members of this Parish Council. We are not paid any remuneration for the time spent on Parish matters, we do care about all areas under our jurisdiction, we are not complacent and we all serve the parish to the best of our ability.

Finally, many thanks to our clerk, Carol, for her efficiency and organisation on behalf of this Parish.

HELP NEEDED FOR CRIME VICTIMS

Victim Support North Kent is looking for new volunteers to help and
support victims of crime.

Some volunteers work several hours a week while others offer occasional help. Volunteer visitors can work during the day or evenings or weekends.

Most people work for Victim Support because they want to help others in their community and are rewarded by seeing the difference that their support can make to people whose lives have been shattered by crime.
Training will be given
