Text Box: our local post office.
A local resident in South Darenth has made a donation of £2000 to provide a new Notice Board on the Paper Mill Green. Designs have been submitted to Sevenoaks District Council and we await their comments.
Our thanks to Malcolm Dunn who continues as our representative on the DRIPS organisation and makes a full report every year.
The Welfare committee has met twice this year and made grants to eleven local organisations.
A framed photograph was presented to Gill Tripp to mark her thirty years service on the Parish Council.
The hedge along the footpath between South Darenth and Horton Kirby is to be renovated. County Councillor Roger Gough has made available £1000 towards the cost. Estimates have been received and the work will shortly be in hand.
PCSO Peter Hylands continues to be 50% financed by the Parish Council and he does his best to improve the environment in our two villages. He has organised regular visits for our local youth to ‘Treejumpers’ and the Parish Council has agreed to present a trophy later this year. Graffiti is still a major problem and the Parish Council has recovered damages in four cases of criminal damage.
The Horton Kirby Mills development has commenced and the first dwellings are due to be occupied in the Spring of 2008. Our thanks go to Tony Searles and Ian Wescombe who have spent many hours on the venture.

Text Box: Bus Shelter Roof Repairs
Has anyone any cedar shingles or cedar ridge tiles left over from a home project? Our bus shelter in Horton Road has 10 to a dozen missing from the roof and to buy full bundles, most of which we don’t need, would cost nearly £100.  Can anyone out there help? Contact the parish office on 01322 865193.
