Local History Society                               Keith Saunderson 862056

Our next meeting will be on 10 July when Colin Fairclough will give a talk entitled People who need People.  Many of you will know that we have produced another book entitled "Images of Horton Kirby Paper Mill" which is of great interest to all who have worked in the Mill as well as to their relatives and friends.  The cost is £6 plus £1.50 if sent by post.  It is available from the parish office, the village store (now fishing tackle shop),
Peter Flewin (864054) and Keith Saunderson.  The book can also be bought at the Village Fayre on 3 June which we will, as always, be supporting.

GRANTS TO VOLUNTARY LOCAL ORGANISATIONS

30 September is the closing date for applications for this year's grants made to local groups by the parish council.  Write in to the Parish Clerk, Parish Office, Village Hall, Horton Road, South Darenth DA4 9AX with details of your group's accounts and what the money would be used for.

TRIM TRAIL IN 100 YEAR WOOD
A trim trail has been suggested for 100 Year Wood.  This is a circuit of different outdoor fitness facilities (balance beams, pull up bars, etc).  The question is: Is anyone likely to use something like this?  Drop a line, make a call or send an email to the parish office if you think expenditure on this sort of equipment is worthwhile.

RIVERSIDE  PRE-SCHOOL Mrs C Reynolds 07968 019759

More success for Riverside as we put forward our Module No 4 for our Kite Mark. Things are going very well and it is hoped we will complete all modules by Christmas and thus gain our Investors in Children Award.

The children have enjoyed the new area that has been cleared at the back of the hall enabling them to play in the sunshine.   The older children are going to visit the Hop Farm for their summer visit this year.
Unfortunately we have to say goodbye to some of our children in July who are off to school.   The Staff and I wish them every happiness for the future and we wish to thank their parents for all the support they have given us in the past.
