VILLAGE HALL "Please keep off the grass"
The Village Hall Committee has recently debated the problem of vehicles churning up the grassed area at the side of the hall.  In previous years the grass has often been damaged over winter but has come back in the spring and summer.  This year however there were doubts that there would ever be grass on it again because of the number of 4x4s and other vehicles being parked on it most days.  Members of the committee recognise that this area is a useful resource on occasions so have decided against closing it off but do ask all drivers to consider the conditions and not to park or drive over it if the ground is wet.  It has been noticed that some drivers have parked on this grass even if there has been room elsewhere.  Committee Chairman Cllr Ian Wescombe said:  "Please use your discretion not to park on the grass in adverse conditions otherwise this facility could be taken away."  The grass area is not only an attractive feature but is also used from time to time by hall users for play.
On the same subject of parking, please note the
hall grounds are private and the limited parking is for the use of hall users only.

ANTHONY ROPER TRUST

The trustees of this charity, which covers education and gifts for the poor would welcome applications from residents.  Under its education heading, the trust always pays for the bibles given to all leavers of Horton Kirby School.  However, it could also help scholars who need assistance with books.  For instance, are there university students living in the parish who would benefit from a grant to pay for one or two of their study books?  Gill Tripp (01322 863476) would be pleased to hear from you.
