New Parish Office Assistant

Since the end of April Jean Wood of South Darenth has been working in the parish office helping visitors with their various enquiries during the office hours of 9.30 to 11.30 am.  She is on hand to deal with village hall booking enquiries and selling recycling and garden waste sacks as well as getting to grips with the many activities covered by the parish council's work.

Jean says: " I am delighted to be working as Carol's assistant and hope to prove helpful.  I am looking forward to seeing the folk I know and getting to know more of the parish residents as they call at the office."

Four very able candidates were interviewed and the parish council would like to thank all who applied for their interest in the job.

Newsletter Deliverers

Thank you to all of our regular deliverers - this help is always gratefully accepted and appreciated.  If anyone else would like to offer please contact the parish office.  We particularly need someone for  Saxon Place .

REAR FOOTPATH RUBBISH CLEARED

Local resident Mrs Warren has asked us to say a big thank you to
Network Rail
for clearing the huge amounts of rubbish from the alley between Horton Road and New Road properties and the embankment.  This area had been a dumping ground for so long that it had become an eyesore and the smell was atrocious.  Mrs Warren appeals to all householders to do all they can to keep the path clean and she hopes that no further dumping will take place.  Meanwhile, residents from further up New Road are, at the time of writing, still waiting for rubbish from the embankment to be cleared from behind their houses.  They would ask all neighbours to help by phoning Network Rail at Waterloo on  08457 114141

In The Zone - Summer Programme for Young People
Once again we are fortunate to have the Sevenoaks van visiting Westminster Field with a wide range of equipment and resources for youngsters to enjoy.  This year the date is Thursday 17 August so make a note of the date now and look out for posters giving full details nearer the time.
