Rubbish Dumping

The Parish Council is very disappointed to have to keep spending money on clearing up household rubbish dumped in the
Paddocks in South Darenth.  Large items like settees and beds as well as bags of garden waste are being thrown in there - presumably by local people - on a regular basis. These open spaces are not meant to be dumping grounds.  If anyone sees anyone dumping rubbish and knows who they are, please inform the parish clerk.

Street Lighting

From time to time the Parish Council is asked to keep certain street lights on all night in order to reduce crime.  The Council is not convinced that this will deter criminals because as much crime takes place in broad daylight as it does at night.

The Parish Council also wants to retain the rural aspect of our villages and has now formulated a lighting policy which does not support all night lighting

Sensor controlled lighting which is activated by movement is more likely to alert residents to intruders than lighting that is on all the time, so individual householders are
encouraged to fit these to protect their property as these will be much cheaper and more effective than public lighting.

Montgomery Road Parking
Bin Lorry Problems

Sevenoaks District Council binmen have asked for a plea to be put out to all car owners in
Montgomery Road to help them get access to collect the weekly rubbish.  Parking along both sides of the road all the way down to the East Hill junction means that the refuse lorry just can't get into and along the road.

A special request is made that on Mondays around 1 pm parking is restricted to one side of the road only.

If you are in at that time and can move your car just for that short time or if you can plan ahead on Mondays, it will mean that the job can be carried out more quickly and easily.

YOUR CO-OPERATION WILL BE APPRECIATED
